ARRIVAL TO HOTEL IRVINE

When your travelers arrive at Hotel Irvine, please have them proceed to the “Rose Parade Welcome and Information Desk” in the hotel lobby, near EATS Restaurant.  You will be given them their room key, information about their coach assignment, and itinerary for the week.  Their room, tax, and luggage handling for one suitcase are included in the tour.  If your travelers plan on charging any incidentals to their room (food and beverages from the restaurant, bar or Marketplace, etc.), they will need to visit the front desk to give the hotel a credit card number.

Check-in time at the hotel is 3:00 pm.  If your travelers plan to arrive before 3:00 pm, we are happy to store their luggage.  We will have continuous free shuttle service throughout the afternoon to the South Coast Plaza, the West Coast’s largest shopping, dining, and entertainment center.  Or, should they choose to stay at the hotel to wait for their room, the hotel’s EATS restaurant will be open for lunch, they can relax poolside or grab a light bite in the Marketplace or the Red Bar.

WHAT TO PACK

Packing for the Rose Parade tour requires a certain amount of flexibility.  Dress should be comfortable and include at least one pair of walking shoes.  Due to changeable weather conditions, we recommend dressing in layers for versatility. Evening restaurants and activities range from classy casual to informal along the way.  On New Year’s Eve, you will attend a Gala event including hats, party favors, and music, music, music.  Cocktail or semi-formal attire is suggested for this evening. A light jacket or raincoat, umbrella, hat, and sunscreen are also recommended.

WEATHER

Temperatures in Southern California are typically quite pleasant at this time of year.  Daytime highs tend to range in the 60s to 70s.  Evening temperatures may dip down into the 50s.

ACTIVITY LEVEL

For the most part, walking on this tour will be easy to moderate.  A limited number of wheelchairs are available for rent upon request (advance notice is required).

GRATUITIES

We feel that gratuities should be a personal expression of satisfaction and gratitude.  If your travelers are happy with the service they receive, we recommend $5 per person, per day for the coach driver and $7 per person, per day for tour directors. Because they may not be on the same coach with the same tour director and driver each day, we recommend tipping on a daily basis at the end of each day.

INCLUDED MEALS

Depending on the tour package that your travelers have purchased the meals included will vary.  If you have any travelers with dietary restrictions, please e-mail Laurie@MainStreetTours.com or call us at least two weeks in advance at (800) 300-6246.

SPECIAL REQUESTS

We will do everything we can to grant special requests, but two weeks advance notice is required.  This includes special rooms at the hotel, seating at the Rose Parade, and special dietary requirements.  Requests made on site during the tour will not be accommodated.
